Islamic Studies is the one of oldest and largest Departments of this college. From the beginning Islamic Studies was affiliated in Tongi Govt. College. National University first gave permission to introduce M.A preliminary course in 1996. Masters final course was affiliated in 1999 under National University. Honors course was affiliated in 1997. Every year a large number of Students complete Honors and Masters Course successfully. The result of this Department is remarkable and satisfactory. Total Students of this Department is near about 1200. The students of this department are involved in different extra-curricular activities which help them immensely to have real-life experience.

The department has been well recognized and students are happy with the teaching technique and method of their respected teachers. Since its inception teachers have always been in close contact with the students, look after their academic and personal wellbeing to make them worthy citizen. The department has a rich seminar with a range of books, articles and journal of the concerned subjects matters. The department not only provides a sound and efficient learning programs but also ensures a healthy academic environment and incredible Teacher-Student relationship. The department is proud of its praiseworthy faculty comprising of members, having rich educational background and high dignity. Now six faculty members are working in this department Dr. Ahmadullah as an Associate Professor is the head of the department, Dr. Abul Kalam Azad and Most. Farhana Akhter are working here as Assistant Professor. Md. Ohiduzzaman Sarkar, Abdullah Al Kauser and Md. Riaz Uddin are working as Lecturer in this department. Besides Rashedul Islam provides service as an office assistant. The department promotes execution of study tours to enlighten the students with proper theoretical learning in harmony with practical experiences. The students of the department of Islamic Studies have attained outstanding results in the examinations as well as been dynamic in co-curriculur activities & sensible in pragmatic situations of life. They not only flourish the name of Department of Islamic Studies with their educational merits, but also play significant roles to contribute in diverse sectors of the society, the country and the aboard.
